Paranormal Investigations at the George Taylor House

The George Taylor House has stood for more than 250 years, carrying the history, memory, and energy of the many lives connected to this property. For some visitors, that history is felt not only through documents, architecture, and artifacts, but through the quiet, unexplained moments that happen within historic walls.

Our paranormal work is led by volunteers connected to the George Taylor House Association who care deeply about the preservation, interpretation, and respectful use of this historic site. We do not approach the house as a stage, attraction, or place to exploit. We approach it as a historic property first.

A Preservation-Minded Approach

The George Taylor House is not just a location for paranormal activity. It is a preserved 18th-century historic home and an important part of local and national history.

Because of that, every investigation is handled with care. Guests are expected to respect the building, the stories connected to it, and the people who have worked to protect it. We do not allow provoking, disrespectful behavior, staged activity, or anything that puts the property at risk.

Our investigations are designed to support the house, not take from it.

Proceeds from public paranormal events help support the George Taylor House Association and ongoing preservation efforts, including the Historic Window Preservation Campaign.

Paranormal Investigations

Public Paranormal Investigations

Public paranormal investigations are offered on select dates throughout the year. These events give guests the opportunity to experience the George Taylor House after dark in a respectful, small-group setting.

Volunteer paranormal investigators will have equipment available for guest use during public events. Guests are not required to bring their own equipment, but personal equipment is welcome as long as it does not disrupt others. Personal spirit boxes, apps, and similar audio-based devices must be used with headphones so they do not interfere with other investigation groups.

Private Paranormal Investigations

Private investigation opportunities may be available on a limited basis and are reviewed by the George Taylor House Association.

All private investigations must align with the preservation, safety, and conduct expectations of the property. The George Taylor House is not available for groups seeking to provoke, sensationalize, or claim ownership over the site’s paranormal narrative.

Private investigations are available at a rate of $375 for up to 6 investigators. Additional investigators may be added for $75 per person.

Private investigations include 5 hours, from 7PM to Midnight, inside the George Taylor House. Investigation time may be extended based on volunteer availability at a rate of $25 for each additional hour.

GTHA volunteers are required to be onsite during all private investigations to help ensure the safety and preservation of the property. Volunteers will remain as unobtrusive as possible while still upholding house rules and property guidelines.

Intuition & Paranormal Investigation Classes

In addition to public and private investigations, the George Taylor House has also hosted classes and educational events focused on intuition, paranormal investigation, and spiritual awareness.

These classes are part of our team’s ongoing effort to approach the paranormal with more depth, responsibility, and personal growth. We believe paranormal investigation is not only about equipment and evidence. It is also about awareness, discernment, respect, and understanding the experiences people may have in historic spaces.

Past classes and workshops have explored topics such as intuitive development, investigation methods, respectful communication, spiritual protection, guest experience, and ethical approaches to paranormal work.

By continuing to learn and by creating opportunities for others to learn with us, we hope to provide paranormal experiences that are thoughtful, grounded, and meaningful.

Please note that paranormal activity is never guaranteed. Each investigation is different.

All private investigation fees are considered donations toward the historical preservation of the George Taylor House.

In 2026, as our country marks its 250th anniversary, our top preservation priority is the Historic Window Preservation Campaign. Funds raised through private investigations, public paranormal events, tours, and donations help support the care and preservation of this important historic property for future generations.

The paranormal team at the George Taylor House has grown naturally through years of volunteer work, historic research, public events, and shared experiences inside the house.

What began as curiosity has developed into a more intentional approach to investigation, guest education, and historic preservation. Our team continues to evolve as we learn, ask better questions, and seek out opportunities for growth.

We are not a team that claims to know everything. In fact, we believe responsible paranormal work begins with humility. The history of the George Taylor House is complex, and so is the paranormal field. Our goal is not to prove, sensationalize, or control the narrative. Our goal is to explore respectfully, document thoughtfully, and create meaningful experiences for guests.

Meet the Team

Candace Maxwell-Kern

Role: George Taylor House Volunteer Treasurer, Paranormal Team Member, and Co-Founder of Empowered Paranormal

Candace is a George Taylor House volunteer and one of the organizers behind the house’s paranormal programming. Her approach to paranormal investigation is rooted in respect, intuition, trauma-informed awareness, and historic preservation.

Through her work with the George Taylor House and Empowered Paranormal, Candace focuses on creating investigations that are thoughtful, grounded, and meaningful rather than fear-based or sensationalized. She believes the paranormal field should leave people feeling more curious, connected, and empowered.

Dustin Isenberg

Role: Co-Founder of Empowered Paranormal, Investigator, and Musician

Dustin Isenberg is a George Taylor House volunteer, paranormal investigator, musician, and co-founder of Empowered Paranormal. He brings creativity, curiosity, and a thoughtful presence to the team, helping guide investigations with respect for both the living and the unseen.

As a musician, Dustin brings a strong awareness of sound, atmosphere, and energy into paranormal investigation. His approach supports the team’s goal of creating meaningful experiences that are grounded, respectful, and open to the unknown.

Rhyannon Kay

Role: Investigator; Photographer; Paranormal Team Member

Rhyannon Kay is the owner of Rings Like a Bell Photography and often serves as one of the creative eyes behind Empowered Paranormal. Through her photography, she captures the atmosphere, emotion, and quiet moments of investigation in a way that helps tell the story of the team’s work.

Rhyannon is also an investigator with an interest in paranormal technology and documentation. Her creativity, attention to detail, and ability to capture the feeling of a space make her an important part of the team’s work at the George Taylor House.

Rob Hess
